On Wednesday George was introduced to next doors puppy Digby, he is only 10 weeks old bless him.
They got on really well and had a ball.
On Wednesday evening I had my tea in the oven and had about 30 mins to take George for his last walk of the day. We got to the village green in Swinford when this black Labrador came round the corner, I waited for the owner to appear but no one came. I started to slowly walk towards home and the lab duly followed us, he had a collar but no tag. He followed us all the way home in the rain.
So I put George into the house and attached the lab to George's lead. I tried a couple of houses on the way back towards the green that I knew had dogs so might hopefully recognise him, but no luck. I went back to the point where I had first found him, hoping to either find some one looking for him or that he may be sufficiently intelligent to show me where he was from. Neither things happened.
So I headed home with my new friend, he was absolutely soaking wet, so I decided I would put him in the garage, as I didn't have any towels to be able to dry him off, go in and get him so food and then phone the dog warden. By now my tea was well and truly burnt!!!
I had just got in the house when my mobile rang, it was one of the people I had called on earlier, they had been making a few calls and someone knew that a woman was looking for a lab, unfortunately when he had tried to ring her there was no answer. So I gratefully took the number, when I rang it went straight to voicemail and advised the mail box was full! So I sent a text and within 2 mins got a call back. It was their dog and they would be with me within 5 mins. The lady turned up and advised me it was her neighbours dog, his name was Fletch, and they had all been out looking for him for an hour. So the moral of the story for all you dog owners out there is make sure your dog has a tag on its collar!!!
By the end of Thursday I had pretty much finished the lounge and got the first coat on the kitchen.
This decorating lark is much harder than I thought, but I am pleased with the results so far.
When I got back to the boat just before 7:00 Rod had started fishing, it was one of his most successful fishing periods.
